Greater Manchester Music Hub Singing Challenge 2018

Greater Manchester Music Hub Singing Challenge 2018

Today at 2.15pm, Ellenbrook joined other schools from over Greater Manchester in singing ‘Together in unison’. The song, broadcast live on Salford City Radio, brought children together across the area to promote the power of singing as a fun and collaborative means of fighting stress and forming friendships.

Year 5- Planet themed music

This half term, we have been looking at the compositions of Gustav Holst and used this to inspire our own work. We have studied his work on the planets and from that created our own musical composition to accompany our made up planet. Today some of us performed our final piece. We have considered what mood we want to portray and how we can change the tempo, dynamics and texture of the piece in order to convey this.

Check back in with us next week to see us all perform.

Ellenbrooks Magnificent Music Festival!

Last night lucky parents and staff were wowed by the musical talent of the children from Year 1 to Year 6.

After working hard all year learning lots of different instruments the children confidently performed to a very impressed audience.

We had performances on; the violin, the viola, the double bass, a variety of brass instruments, the piano and the guitar.

The children were fantastic! What a brilliant evening!

Samba drumming

This half term Year 5 have been exploring the life of a Brazilian and learnt about what it is like to be in a Carnival. In their music sessions they have learnt a Samba drumming composition which they have practised every week. On Friday they performed their composition in assembly to the whole school.
